never say thanks.

This is a short story that I have been practicing for my ALW227 Scriptwriting Class. Although it has to be fiction...let's say I have a bit of fact meaning in this story. Here it goes.


She woke up in the morning, yawning. She glanced at her clock. 11.24. Damn!, she thought. She rushed towards the bathroom. God, she did not even take a shower (Hey, at least my face feel fresh and my hair smells nice...). Then, she put on her jeans, followed by the white-tee, grabbed a jacket, and ate the cereal straight from the box, without the milk.

After 2 minutes trying to quickly swallow the cornflakes, she swooped to her room, only to find that her boyfriend still asleep like a baby on her bed. She kissed him on the forehead, and muttered, 'I love you,', and she left.

Adele was not the kind of person who often get overslept during the weekdays. The only reason she ignored her alarm this morning was because she stayed up all night at her campus. Why? It was that because she loved her boyfriend. Dave had tons of assignments last night and had tried to finish them all. Adele knew that, of course, he did not want to be alone at the campus so she accompanied him. Until 2 o'clock in the morning. It was fun for Adele, though, so she did not even complain to her boyfriend.

At the campus, Adele met her friend, Emma. She was wearing a Rapunzel costume.

'Okay, I don't even wanna ask...'
'It's for my art class,'

The two of them chatted for about an hour, until Adele's phone rang. It was Dave.

'Hey, honey, where you at?'
'In my class, what's up?'
'Nothing, it's just I think I have to go the campus...', he said slowly.
'Um, okay, I'll just wait here, then,'
'Yeah 'cause I have an assignment that is due today...'
'WHAT?!', she shocked.
'Yeah, no, it's fine...it's easy, haha,'
'Well, okay, just call me when you're here, alright?'
'Sure thing. Bye, love,'
'Bye.'

When she put the phone in her bag, Emma asked,'What was it about?'
'Nahh, he just forgot that there's an assignment that is due today,'
'WHAT?!'
'Yeah, that was my reaction, too,', said Adele, smiling. And the two of them walked away.

'Adele!'

Dave has just arrived and he spotted Adele, reading in the library.

'Hey, I thought Emma's with you?', he said, looking for Emma.
'Nope, she went home earlier,', said Adele, while returning her book to it shelf. 'So, where do you wanna finish your assignment?'
'Uh, I need a computer...let's go to the computer lab,'

At the computer lab, it was packed with students who, Adele guessed, have also not done their assignment yet. Lucky for them, there were two computers left.

While Dave started working on his work, Adele, who did not have any assignments, started to Google-ed up piece of information. At first she Google-ed Jurassic Park, then she Google-ed Harry Potter, and finally when she got bored, she turned her head to Dave.

'Hey, do you need any help?'
'Nahh, I'm cool,', said Dave, still looking at his computer.

Adele saw what Dave had created. It was about a cartoonized video. Adele was already getting bored. So she made a decision to help him, whether he liked it or not. And besides, she studied this once. Of course, she could help him.

'You know, I think if you add a tree beside the character, it will look much better...'
'Huh?', responded Dave, with a judging look.
'Yeah, I mean..-' , at this point Adele started to lose her confidence. She forgot what she was about to say. What was more is that, after seeing the judging look of her beloved boyfriend, she started to feel annoyed. AND upset.
'I don't understand what you mean,', said Dave, still did not notice her girlfriend's feelings.
'Okay,'

Due to her annoyance, Adele cleaned up her table, packed her bag, and stood up.

'I'm going for a walk,', she said, avoiding Dave's eyes.
'What? Where?'
'I don't know, it's kinda stuffed here.'

So she left him. She walked away from Dave, who probably knew why she was acting like that all of a sudden. The looks of a regret.
